Mobridge Police Department
  Mission Statement

The mission of the Mobridge Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in the City of Mobridge by strengthening the partnership with our community based upon fair, courteous, professional, efficient public service and respect. We believe impartial enforcement and the intelligent use of discretion in the application of the law is imperative. We are committed to the prevention and detection of criminal activity and to the public safety of our people and property. We strive to continually learn, develop and implement new methods with which to effectively assist our community with problem solving. To sustain the public trust, we pledge to hold ourselves to the highest levels and standards of performance, integrity, morals, values and ethics.

The Mobridge Police Department is located at the Law Enforcement Center at 110 First Avenue East. The Law Enforcement Center houses the Mobridge Police Department, the North Central Regional E911 - Mobridge Communications Center and the substation office for the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

The MPD Police Division personnel currently consist of a Chief, a Captain, five full-time Patrol Officers, one part-time Patrol/Code Enforcement Officer, and three occasional part-time Patrol Officers. All agents are sworn law enforcement officers with full arrest powers. All Mobridge Police Officers are also deputized as Special Deputy Sheriffs with the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.

The MPD Communications Division personnel currently consist of seven Dispatchers and one part-time E911 Coordinator. All seven Dispatchers are State certified Telecommunicators and Emergency Medical Dispatchers. The E911 Coordinator oversees the technical interface aspect for the 911 Public Safety Answering Point, named North Central Regional E911, which is at the Mobridge Communications Center.

The Mobridge Police Department vehicle fleet is currently comprised of a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, three Chevrolet Police Service Tahoes, and a Ford Police Interceptor Sport Utility Vehicle. Two police bicycles completely equipped with emergency lights and sirens are also in service seasonally. Unmarked and other vehicles may be used from time to time to assist with special operations and events.

Mobridge Police Officers function as Emergency Medical First Responders. Patrol vehicles carry special medical equipment used by officers to primarily stabilize a patient until ambulance personnel arrive on a scene. This equipment includes portable oxygen tanks and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

The Mobridge Police Department offers a variety of different services to the community. The department also participates in enforcement programs that focus on specific subjects such as seatbelt use and drinking & driving.
